    Hey everybody,
let me just say this quickfreedom thing is so easy! I'm a total noob, and I have no idea what anything you guys have said means. But I installed this on my laptop (running windows XP) and the instructions were so easy! its restoring now... so I just thought I'd comment. Will all my data from before the jailbreak be available when its done restoring? Where can I find free games to download? Backrounds? Other useful free apps? thanks for the program and the feedback :)

    I expect that 1.2 so I have a problem with 1.1.1 in step 2.

The process create the firmware but says in the log:
    - "Finising Patch"
    - Creation complete. Unable to copy to desktop"

    and in 2 windows:

"Your ipsw has been completed and patched successfully However the firmware could not be copied to your desktop"

"Your firmware is located at: C:\Archivos de programa\QuickFreedom\Files\XPwn\custom221.ipsw"

Sometimes there is a message that says "Error patching...." and sometimes there is no.

I use XP SP2 (Spanish). ¿Could be this the problem?

The size of custom firmware created in "C:\Archivos de programa\QuickFreedom\Files\XPwn" is 283.121 Kb

Is correctly patched? Can i use it for jailbreak my Ipod?

It's worth a try, and you can always restore it to Apple's official firmware if it doesn't work. Also, try emailing Dan your error log, if it's of any relevance.

Keep up the good work, Dan! I wish I could enjoy further versions of QuickFreedom, but I already jailbroke my iPod with the previous version. I'll be sure to continue to promote this program in any way I can, though!

For some reason when I hit shift and click "Restore" in iTunes, it doesn't ask me about any custom firmware. Is there something I missed or does everybody have an older version of iTunes?

i have the same problem with creating custom firmware in step 2 and the quick freedom freeze with 1% struck error.

    i m using Win XP sp2.

just, i wondering that i found ipsw file in the working quick freedom directory file name says Original221.ipsw with the same size as original firmware 284mb.

    G:\Program Files\QuickFreedom\Files\XPwn\Original221.ipsw
is this file is patched, can i use it for jailbreakmy itouch?

    and my Log file says as follows;
    --------------------------------------------------
    Hashing IPSW...

    Matching IPSW in FirmwareBundles/... (34a0a489...)

    checking: FirmwareBundles/\iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a.bundle\Info.plist

    error: Could not load IPSW

    ------------------------------------------------

so, i think i have a problem with loading IPSW file .

please help me i am so much curious 2 jailbreak my Itouch.

    thnx in advance for upcoming version 1.2 :}

    hi.

    Some questions:
    1. I've got a brand new IPOD, haven't open the box yet :D. Can I just plug it in straight away and jb it or I have to set the IPOD touch up and then jb?

    2. I've created the custom firmware 3 days ago (when the ipod is not connected, cause there was no ipod yet!). Is it OK to use that file to restore?

    3. Any chance of brick? I've heard some people got their IPOD broken when they hit the Pre-Jailbreak button. If it happens, what should I do?

    Thanks

Person with the brand new ipod --- You can restore it to that file. It doesn't make a difference, because it deletes all your data anyways. I have used the same ipsw file on 2 other peoples ipods that wanted me to jailbreak their ipods. So yes you can use that ipsw file. The only difference is if you use aptbackup it saves a extra file in the ipsw so if you restore u can restore all of your cydia apps. Which will still load fine on other ipods. I used this program and i love it!!! no clue what version but it works for me. I would provide the jailbroken ipsw but it would take too long to upload to any illeagal websites.

O ya and also you CANT brick the ipod. It has dfu mode and you can always go to that mode and restore to the original ipsw if anything goes wrong. Thats the only reason i jailbroke my ipod now because there was no risk. And i did the teathered jailbreak at first using command promport and my ipod jailbroke fine.

For those who get stuck at 1%, I had the same bug and moved the official firmware to : Program Files\QuickFreedom\Files\XPwn, QuickFreedom is now creating the custom firmware =D

    You're rocking Dan!!!
I'm waiting for the 1.2, once I had the "1%" problem... As I checked, it may be a local problem.
But if you make it works even with it, great.
    Keep on!
Oh, the roadmap.. Do u know when the 1.2 will be released?

how long is it taking for everyone else to create the custom firmware? it says 5-10 minutes but mine always seems to act like its not responding and had now been "creating" for nearly two hours. Does it just take that long, or am I doing something wrong?
